Why used parts of salvaged vehicles? |
|
|
- There are many different reasons, but most commonly the cost of a second-hand/ used
car parts opposed to a new parts can save between 50-70% of the purchase price making
them a cost-effective alternative. Consider these approximations (examples only):
- Second-hand, tested quality engine $450 as opposed to a reconditioned motor $1850
- Second hand door mirrors $55 as opposed to $165 RRP
- Hub caps/ wheels trims; second hand $20ea as opposed to $148ea RRP.
- Panels (bonnets, bumper bars, doors, boot lids, etc.) may be available in one’s
desired colour to match the current car, opposed to a new part, which are usually
only available in black under-colour.
- The new car parts may not currently be in stock (and therefore eliminates repair
delays by easy access) or in possibly, no longer be available or manufactured,
- Modern day issues, such as global warming, climate change and the depletion of natural
resources suggest the need to reduce the demand for resources and recycle. A reduction
in the need for new car parts to be manufactured ultimately protects our environment
for future generations.
- Auto recyclers play an important part in End-Of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) by dismantling
and de-polluting contaminants and hazards such as the: oils, fuels, batteries, gases,
airbag components, etc. furthermore, protecting our environment.
